Party Party Party

Lana got 3 Birthday parties for her second Birthday! First, Lana and I were able to fly to Colorado to celerbrate her birthday with both of our families. We were sad that Daddy wasn't able to be there with us, but Lana got to celebrate with both sets of Grandparents.
Lana was born on the same day as her Great-Grandma Kiefer (My Mom's Mom) This year was Great-Grandma's 85th Birthday. So we threw Lana and Great-Grandma a big party with the whole family. Here is Lana's cake.

For some odd reason Lana enjoyed falling off the rocking horse at Grandma and Grandpa's. She would get on and purposly fall off, over and over again. She thought it was hilarious, silly girl!!

2 Years Old!!!

Our little girl is 2 years old today. Even though it has only been two years it is hard to think of life without our little Lana. She has been such a blessing in our lives. We love our little girl so much!!! It is hard to believe she is getting so big, she is talking a ton now. I don't think there is a word she cannot say. She loves to dress up, play kitchen, princesses, and she still loves her baby dolls. She is even starting to sing real songs, like Jesus Loves Me, Twinkle Twinkle, and Row Row Row Your Boat. She is so much fun!! Here are a few pictures from the last two years. It is hard to believe she is getting so big.Lana Grace Oedy-Born February 20, 2007 7lbs 5oz

The Best One Yet

We have been working with Lana lately on saying please, also on saying "yes please" and "no thank you" she has become very good at saying "please" whenever she asks for anything, and if she forgets, we say "what do you say?" and she knows we mean please.
Well, Lana got a baby doll for Christmas that talks. She came with a blanket, a teddy bear, and a bottle, and the doll will ask for each item. She has magnetic hands and so she does know if you give it to her or not. This morning as I was getting ready I over heard Lana playing with her baby. The baby doll was saying "blanket Mama, blanket" and our dear sweet Lana responds, "say please, baby, say please"
Ahhh, our little Mommy already!!!

Sweet Lana

Despite her recent habit of screaming fits, we do have the sweetest little girl. It is funny to me how the littlest thing lately can just make her go off. Today we were in the car and I took her hat off, to me it would be more comfortable to have a hat off in the car, but not Lana. Little did I know it would send her into a screaming fit all the way to church. But she has her sweetest moments too, and that makes it all worth it. Here are a few examples of her sweet little personality recently.

-Every night when we are getting ready for bed Lana has a whole routine we have to go through. If Josh is home, which he often is not, she runs up to him to give him a good night hug, but then she reaches for me and says "family hug" It is so sweet. She also gives us both a kiss. Recently whenever she wants one of us to hold her she says "hold you" it is sweet! Then after we put her to bed and close the door she calls out "night, night" for several minutes, until we stop responding.

- Everyday day at 1pm I say "Guess what time it is?" and she happily responds "nap time" and then runs to her room to jump in her crib!

-Randomly throughout the day she will look at me, reach out to me, and say "hug, I need hug"

-I go to a Mom's group at Highview on wednesday mornings, so this morning as we were getting ready to go I told her where we were going. (If I explain things ahead of time they generally go much smoother) I told her we were going to Church, and she started running around the house saying "Church, were going to church"

-She refers to herself as Nana, and likes to say everything that "Nana" is doing. She also pretend plays with her little friends when she is not with them, and it is really sweet.

- Ever since last weeks storm all she talks about is all the trees falling down. Whenever we would go somewhere, she would point out each tree-"tree fall down?"

-Today we were sitting at the table eating lunch and she pointed to my food and said "That good Mommy?" maybe I misunderstood, but it sounded like she was asking if my food was good. How cute is that??

-Oh and whenever anyone coughs, sneezes, or yawns she says "bless you" usually followed by their name.

I am sure there are many many more cute and sweet things, but it is just so amazing to me the little personality they can already have a just 2 years old. Here are also a few cute pictures of our silly girl!!

15 Weeks

Ugh, I hate belly shots, of me at least, but I am doing this because I want to remember. I wasn't very good at keeping track of my pregnancy with Lana, how much weight I gained when, taking pictures, etc, so I am trying to track my whole pregnancy this time. I am 15 weeks pregnant with "new baby" or baby #2, we are calling her/him right now. You can definitely see a little bump, but considering that everyone has been telling me that I would be in maternity clothes by 12 weeks with my second, I am thrilled that I am still in my normal clothes. In fact I noticed yesterday that my jeans are actually fitting looser in the waist?? Josh is still wondering if I am actually pregnant- just kidding. I think it becomes real for him when we first see an ultrasound. With Lana we were able to see her at just 8 weeks, and we haven't seen this baby yet, but we have heard the heart beat. Hopefully we will have pictures and know the sex very soon!!!

Crazy Week

We had a crazy week followed by a busy weekend. It started out as a few inches of snow and turned into the biggest ice storm Kentucky has ever had, leaving downed power lines and trees everywhere, and 600,000 people in Kentucky without power. On Wednesday I was sure we were going to lose our power, by thursday when we hadn't I thought we had made it through this crazy storm, but then Friday morning while I was in the shower, I have to add, we lost our power. We had no idea how long it would be, they were saying it could be 7 to 10 days for most people, and with a little girl in the house we didn't want to try to stay here with no heat, and no way to make food. So we packed up and headed across town to our friends, Thom and Lesley's house. I packed like we were going to be gone a week, since we had no idea, and I also brought everything from the fridge and freezer that I could, since I learned my lesson last september when we lost our power and we lost all of our food. Thom and Lesley were such great hosts and opened their home right up to us. Even feeding us dinner. Lana got to play with their sweet little boy Eli, I wish I would have taken some pictures, but I didn't think of it at the time. On Saturday we had plans to go to Dayton, about 2 1/2 hours north of us, to meet up with Josh's Mom, sister, brother in law, and their little boy Gabriel. When we got back to Louisville that evening, our power was back on. We were very thankful. On Sunday our Church services were cancelled since the building had no power, and the parking lot had not been plowed. It was still covered in ice and snow and very hard to get too, so they decided to cancel Church for Sunday. So we decided to take the opportunity to visit our old church here in Louisville, Highview Baptist. We still have a lot of friends there, and love the Church, so it was fun to be able to go back and visit. Our weekend finished off with a Superbowl party at the Murphy's house, and we had a lot of fun there too. Here are a few pictures from our weekend.Lana and her Cousin Gabriel. This was the best picture I could get of the two of them, at least they are both looking :)Lana's Great-Grandma Demland made her this beautiful sweater for her birthday, this really isn't a good picture of it, but it also has a matching purse and Lana loves it!Lana giving Gabriel a hugDan, Stef, Gabriel, Lana, Josh, and I- not a great picture but oh well! This is what most of the trees look like in Louisville. Branches broken off and bending over from the ice.Ice on the branchesHad to add this one of Lana, she has so much fun in the snow!Super bowl party at the Murphy's. Lana had fun playing with Baby Jack. He is 3 months old. Lana kept putting his Pacifier in his mouth, and rocking him in his bouncy chair. A few times she rocked him a little too hard, but we realized Lana is going to make a great big sister :)
